Exploring anxiety treatment options

The anxiety treatment information here is not intended to take

the place of medical advice. It is to present you with an

overview of treatments and then to introduce you to an energy

technique that you can apply yourself as an alternative

treatment. Please read our disclaimer before continuing.

The better-known options for anxiety treatment are:

Drugs including benzodiazepines like Valium and

Ducene that act to calm emotions, but can be addictive, SSRI's

which are anti depressants, anti psychotics that are supposed to

reduce psychotic symptoms plus other heart regulating and

similar symptom reducing drugs too. There are many available

drugs that help depending on a persons needs, but these drugs

are anxiety treatments, not necessarily cures.

Cognitive behavior therapy seeks to change the

thought processes involved with the anxiety by explaining more

rationally the real meaning behind your thoughts and to shift

your thoughts onto a more positive outcome. This is usually

tested against exposure to the anxiety-producing problem perhaps

using imagined or real life situations.

Exposure therapy is an anxiety treatment that

gradually introduces you to the anxiety-producing problem using

coping strategies so that you can understand the situation which

reduces your anxiety as you become used to it.

Group or individual therapy under the guidance of

a trained facilitator.

Avoidance of substances that aggravate or

intensify your anxiety such as smoking, recreational drugs,

caffeine and alcohol are legitimate anxiety treatments.

Exercise on a regular basis for fitness, burning

of unwanted stimulants, calming the mind and reducing tension.

Hypnosis where calming thoughts are suggested to

you while you are in a deeply relaxed state.

Meditation or other calming practices such as

breathing techniques are another anxiety treatment.

The above is not an exhaustive list of anxiety treatments, they

are perhaps the most commonly available with a reasonable track

record of success. It is good to explore these options through

your health care professional to get a better understanding of

each.

A new energy technique is also producing excellent results for some sufferers

Most of the above anxiety treatments can appear to be slow in

achieving results compared to skillful application of an energy

technique that this site calls patting.

It involves patting with your fingers on 8 energy

meridian points that have been used for thousands of years in

acupuncture and other energy healing methods. While you have the

anxiety affecting you, you try to identify what anxiety it is or

what it is about and then say a setup phrase describing the

anxiety and tap on each of the points which most often results

in the anxiety being significantly reduced or eliminated the

moment you finish patting. To see a brief history of this

technique go to History of energy healing

This anxiety treatment technique is gentle, easy to learn, fast

to apply and can even cure excessive anxiety completely, at home

without other help and for no cost. However, there are possible

adverse results so before attempting to use it for yourself you

should read through this Warning to make sure it is safe for you.

If you are suffering from excessive anxiety now or if you have

sudden panic attacks or other forms of anxiety problems, even

phobias about snakes, heights, crowds or anything else, this

technique works best if you can identify the "feeling".

To jog your mind follow the questions below.

If you are scared, when does it affect you? What feeling do you

have?

Do you feel tight with restricted breathing?

Do you suffer from incontinence when you become too anxious -

when, what are the thoughts or feelings before or when it

happens?

Do you feel overcome by anxiety when you are in a social

situation? Can you identify the particular feeling or feelings?

Are you able to separate the feelings? It is important that you

try although not completely necessary. This process may not work

for you if you are too general or global with your descriptions,

such as "I have anxiety, I do not feel good, or I have this

feeling". You will achieve better results if you can say "I

have this racing feeling in my chest, or I feel unwell in the

stomach, or I have this fear of... feeling".

It is beneficial to go back to a bad incident and say "When I

was at... and I got this racing feeling in my chest, or Right

now when I think about.... I have this sick feeling in my

stomach or When I was amongst all those people I got really

scared".

These statements are part of the setup phrase that you should

use before patting. This site is primarily for emotional anxiety

regarding dating or romance, but it is equally as effective for

all anxieties. In a few moments you will be asked to click on a

page link on this site to continue your lesson on how to reduce

or eliminate your anxiety.

You can ignore references to romance, attraction and your soul

mate if those do not apply to you, just continue through the

information.

An overview of patting
- explained in Romance Tips Three

First you identify a feeling that represents your excessive

anxiety, you identify when you get that feeling and you put it

into a setup phrase. While patting on one of the eight points

continuously you say the setup phrase three times, then you pat

on each of the other seven points using a one or two word

description of the feeling.

After patting one round you should feel an improvement. There

are a few reasons for not which are explained. It should take

about a minute or two to complete and the relief is usually

instant.

There are many aspects to most anxieties and you need to try

going through all of those as you are shown. You will have to be

a little creative, but if you read through all the material you

should have no trouble. So one major anxiety my have ten aspects

to it, all of which you have to pat on separately, that is, do

10 individual rounds. Then you may have some other major

anxieties and some other minor ones that affect you. Do the same

with each of them.

When you go to the patting process page you will be led through

other pages that all teach you a part of the technique. Finally

you will arrive at Patting Central where you will find more

specific information about anxiety.

Try to go through each page actually doing the patting exercises

suggested to get your body used to it and to gradually introduce

this anxiety treatment to your system.

To begin the patting technique go to Romance Tips Three.
