Anxiety Level Indicator (SUD)

SUD stands for Subjective Units of Distress

which is an measurement of anxiety levels. It is very useful

when patting to determine if you are making progress.

Here's how it is done.

When you tune into a feeling you measure the amount of

emotional charge you have (or anxiety) by giving it a number.

This is your subjective unit. Number ten is the strongest amount

of emotion you feel while zero is no emotion at all.

You just guess what number you think is closest to the level of

anxiety you are feeling before patting. After one round, you

cast your mind back to the event that caused the emotion and you

guess what level you are at now.

It should decrease substantially or go to zero after patting. Do

it every time before and after you pat to measure the progress

you are making. The actual number is only a guess which is quite

accurate because people scared of snakes will very quickly say

"10" when you ask them to think of a snake close to them and

when their phobia has been removed they can easily say "zero".
