Modern energy techniques look at the cause of anxiety differently
It has commonly been felt that the cause of anxiety can be a combination of learned behavior, genetic predisposition and a chemical imbalance in the brain. Either one of the above or a combination of any of them. Patting energy techniques look at it from a completely different angle because it is believed that when a person suffers from anxiety one or more of their energy meridians is blocked or partially blocked which does not allow the energy to flow through properly. This is the basis of patting on the acupuncture energy meridian points and most people would agree that it works spectacularly.
Dr. Callihan discovered it in the 1980's
Dr. Callihan, an American psychiatrist was working on a patient who had intense anxiety about water. She had had it most of her life and she had been seeing him for many months about it. She had also been to other therapists before going to Dr. Callihan for the same problem. Dr. Callihan had been studying some earlier work on energy meridians and percussive patting on the particular points so when she said she had a stomach sensation while thinking about water he asked her to pat on the stomach meridian which was on her face. She patted the point a few times and then declared that she was cured. This remarkable discovery about the cause of anxiety led Dr. Callihan to study energy meridians and anxiety more. Dr. Callihan's later research showed that the cause of anxiety must be a blockage in the energy meridian that causes anxiety and that it is unblocked when patted if the patient is thinking of the problem at the time. which are important for you to know. It has cured thousands of phobias from water, to insects, to spiders, reptiles, heights, crowds, open spaces, foods and probably any others that you can think about. It is very successful for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the many aspects of this anxiety, for simple confusion and inability to complete work, for fears of all sorts real or imagined. It is particularly good for clearing the mind when anxiety seems to be taking over, when you have no motivation, or when your mind will not stop spinning. One of the best anxiety relief processes is to continually pat on each of the meridians while you repeat every negative thought that is going through your mind. It may take one minute or up to ten minutes, but at least it will clear your mind sufficiently for you to calm down. You can review this process at

Right brain dominated people are more affected by anxiety
It is my personal view that right brain dominated people suffer more from anxiety than left brain dominated people. A quick search in your browser will usually give you plenty of information on each type or you can go to
Left/Right brain comparison.
Right brained people are more dreamy, they love imagination, they are more emotional, find it difficult to remember information, learn through picturing the whole situation and find it difficult to remember individual facts. They tend to have many thoughts moving around in their mind that cause anxiety and often have difficulty completing tasks because of that. Left brain dominated people are very verbal, speak in terms of facts and correct information, they are usually focused on tasks and can complete them easily. Their minds are not affected much by many thoughts spinning around and they can remember individual facts quite easily and rarely look at things holistically. The right brain is always thinking of something other than the subject at hand and becomes more easily confused.
Behavioral styles influence anxiety
Another cause of anxiety is the natural anxiety that each of the four behavior styles has. You can find out more about the styles at
