This is the basic patting round

This patting round consists or saying out loud the "setup phrase" three times while patting on the Karate Chop point followed by saying the short "reminder phrase or word" each time as you pat on each of the seven energy meridian points.

You can review the meridian points if you need to now at patting points.

The Setup

This is where you make your statement about your negative feeling followed by a positive affirmation... while patting on the karate chop point on the hand to focus your body on the negative feeling that you have now as you remember the event, or the negative feeling that you are suffering from at present.

You repeat this process three times one after the other.

The reminder phrase or word

You repeat a reminder phrase or word which is just a short version of the negative feeling you have which keeps your body focused on the feeling. This is repeated on each of the patting points as you pat about seven times on each before moving on to the next one.

More about the Setup

The setup is not always necessary; it is to prevent psychological reversal but you never know when it is needed or when it is not needed so it is a good idea to do it most times.

It is a statement of your negative feeling followed by a positive affirmation about yourself.

Below is an example of the first part of your setup statement which is the negative feeling statement

"Even though I am feeling anxious about going out tonight,...

The first part can be said in many different ways such as:

Even though I am scared about going out tonight...
Even though I am worried about going out tonight...
Even though I have this anxiety about going out tonight...
Even though I am uneasy about going out tonight, but I do not understand why...
Even though I have this funny feeling about going out tonight...
Even though I am very excited about going out tonight...

While the second part (positive statement) can be said in many different ways too, such as:

I deeply and completely accept myself
I deeply and completely love and accept myself
I love and accept who I am anyway
I accept myself

So you can put together any of the above negative feeling statements with any of the above positive statements which all mean the same thing, but one or more of them will suit you better.

You will have a natural preference towards one phrase of the first part because it will seem to describe your feeling more accurately.

The second part can make a difference to your result depending on which one you use. "I accept myself anyway" is a good standard, but when it does not work try going to "I deeply and completely love and accept myself".

If you still do not get a great reduction in anxiety then try saying the whole setup statement loudly and forcefully and if that does not work try the instructions at low response.

Your "Setup Phrase" is repeated three times while patting your karate spot and it tunes the mind and your energy meridians in to the feeling you have so that the patting round will be more effective.

The patting round is the main action that balances the energy meridians to remove the anxiety.

You use a word or phrase to remind you about the feeling each time you pat on an energy point.

Some examples

feeling anxious
anxious
scared
this scared feeling
worried
worried about going out tonight
anxiety
feeling uneasy
funny feeling
excited

You just repeat this word or phrase as you tap on each energy point and go through all seven of the points. This is called one Patting Round and it removes your particular anxiety by opening up the energy flow on the meridian or meridians that are blocked or partially blocked while you have that feeling in your mind or body.
